The German armed forces will join the first military exercise of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, due in November across Poland, Romania’s airspace and the western Black Sea, the German news agency DPA reported on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Defense Ministry in Berlin said Germany will contribute ten officers, aerial refueling aircraft and logistical support. The exercise is intended as the first test of the operational readiness of the multinational force, set up by Ukraine’s allies under the leadership of France and the United Kingdom to help secure a future peace agreement with Russia.
The Coalition of the Willing was agreed last December at a summit on Ukraine in Berlin and comprises approximately 35 states.
