The IOC has approved new Olympic diplomas in the Paris 2024 women’s marathon after Romanian Delvine Relin Meringor’s seventh-place finish was annulled for doping.

The International Olympic Committee Executive Board has approved the reallocation of Olympic diplomas in the women’s marathon at the Paris 2024 Games after Romanian runner Delvine Relin Meringor was removed from the results.

Meringor originally finished seventh. World Athletics amended the official standings after the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya sanctioned her for an anti-doping rule violation. She received a three-year ban after testing positive in five out-of-competition tests between October 2022 and August 2023. She admitted using a prohibited substance and accepted a suspension running from 11 January 2025 through 10 January 2028.

Her results from 7 October 2022 onward were annulled, including the Paris Olympic finish and fourth place at the 2023 European Cross Country Championships. No appeal followed, leaving the decision final. Uganda’s Stella Chesang now occupies seventh place and Israel’s Lonah Chemtai Salpeter eighth. The IOC approved diplomas for those places, with the remaining rankings adjusted.

The board acted at a meeting ahead of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. It also approved diploma changes in Beijing 2022 figure skating after the International Skating Union removed Kamila Valieva from the women’s singles ranking. The IOC reallocates awards only after the relevant proceedings have closed.
